Carly was raised in a small rural farm town outside of the self-proclaimed smallest city in America. She grew up spending her free time playing in mud with her two younger siblings. Living within nature was undoubtedly one of the biggest impacts made on her. It forced her to slow down and take in more, to notice the little details, the purple in the cloud’s shadow, the red in the mud, the orange in the grassy meadows surrounding her home.

That practice of paying attention to the subtle colors and textures led her to notice those details in the people around her as well. She noticed the harsh shadow lines with undertones of blue and orange at the same time. She couldn’t help but to look at the world as a painting. This resulted in her discovering her deep passion for art.

Since then Carly has been painting portraits for over a decade. She got her BA in Art and Design at Saint Michael’s college where she soaked in every bit of information her incredibly thoughtful professors had to offer. She developed many skills, mainly in oil paint and watercolor.

Carly paints almost solely female portraits using a variety of different mediums. She puts pieces of herself in every painting while capturing the individuality of each woman. In her eyes, that is what womanhood is all about, the shared experience of billions of woman and female presenting people while giving space for unique experiences as well. Carly aims to empower people of every gender to embrace their femininity with an unapologetic passion.
